| Latham was picked up by a Royal Navy launch (pictured above) before being put aboard a French destroyer. Despite being a ground-breaking design, the Antoinette engine was simply too complicaed to be thoroughly reliable. The Antoinette Company's fortunes sank like Latham's aeroplane following this second failure. |
